P25-Billion Robinsons Project Set to Give EDSA a New Landmark

(SPOT.ph) If Singapore has its Marina Bay Sands, Malaysia its Petronas Towers, Dubai its Burj Khalifa and New York City its Empire State Building, the Philippines will soon have a must-see architectural icon that's synonymous to it. This is the dream behind The Jewel, the 25-billion-peso property development project from Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC).

The Jewel is set to rise from the land previously occupied by Forum Robinsons, that 2.5 hectre-mall in the corner of EDSA and Pioneer Streets in Mandaluyong. It said goodbye in May 2022 after 18 years of operation, with RLC hinting at a “fresh start” back then.

The premium office development project with a mall feature is envisioned to shake up the landscape of the city, particularly the Mandaluyong area, with its four glistening towers that feature diamond-shaped details in its facades—hence the name The Jewel.

What is The Jewel exactly?

The project features four office towers named after diamond cuts—Asscher, Trilliant, Marquise, and Peruzzi—which will be collectively called the ATMP Towers.

Underneath the ATMP Towers is the brand new six-story Forum Robinsons mall. If you still remember, the previous mall had no outdoor spaces in its vicinity, but the COVID-19 pandemic increased the demand for al fresco spaces in Metro Manila. So this time people can expect lots of open spaces as well as indoor spaces with high ceilings and natural light.

Beyond function, form also takes center stage. The project aims to be an architectural marvel with eight-meter-high art installations representing Philippine wildlife like the Philippine Eagle, whale shark, tarsier, and tamaraw.

The Jewel takes pride in its accessibility as well, being situated along the busiest thoroughfare in the country and linked to the MRT-3 Boni Station. Since it will be built along the banks of the Pasig River, RLC is confident no other development can block its views.

“There have not been major structures around it that could block such an amazing view. Look at New York, Singapore, London, and Hong Kong. What do they have in common? All these amazing cities have emerged along bodies of water. This is the same vision we aspire for in The Jewel,” RLC Senior Vice President Jericho Go said.

The completion of the mall and one office tower is anticipated as early as 2026, with the remaining towers rising by the end of the decade.
